Casa Selva was a renovation project with the intention of preserving the historic character of an old house in El Poblado (Medellín), inhabiting the space with contemporary design elements interwoven with traditional craft techniques from our country. Nestled among lush vegetation, this house maintains its architectural integrity by preserving its original floors, structural elements, and façade, complemented by carefully selected interventions that honor the passage of time.

Historic renovation that dialogues with the jungle

Guided by the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, we integrate carved wood and stone details under choreographed natural light that blurs the boundaries between interior and gardens, respectfully connecting history with contemporary style.

Guided by the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, every material decision—from hand-carved wooden elements to stone details—arose from a deep respect for both the existing structure and the artisanal processes that shaped it.

Natural light becomes a material in itself, carefully choreographed to illuminate interior gardens that blur the boundaries between built and natural environments.

Casa Selva demonstrates how thoughtful design can respectfully connect historical contexts and contemporary needs.

The project invites its inhabitants to experience culture through noble materials, creating spaces that respond to everyday rituals while preserving subtle details from previous generations who passed through these same rooms.
