The Virtual Home of Colombian Design

When many predicted that 2020 would be a difficult year due to the ravages of the pandemic, the Design Room Colombia initiative bet on national talent, adding ten new firms to its digital platform.

The second season of this ProColombia project showcases Colombian design through 360-degree virtual reality tours, reaching countries such as the United States, Spain, Mexico, and Peru. In 2019 alone, participating companies recorded exports worth $2.2 million.

Design Room Colombia: national talent in the world

A platform that connects Colombian design with international markets

Diamantina & La Perla was selected for the second season of Design Room Colombia, an initiative by ProColombia that promotes national talent on the international stage through virtual experiences.

In its first edition, Design Room Colombia featured brands such as Artesanías de Colombia, Folies, Gres, Verdi, and Zientte. In 2020, under the Relieve Tropical collection, ten studios joined, including Diamantina & La Perla, along with Kónkretus, Mus, Perceptual, Tu Taller Design, Tucurinca, and other prominent names in national design.

The initiative seeks to increase exports and showcase the best of Colombian design in furniture, accessories, and interiors. As stated by Flavia Santoro, president of ProColombia:

“We want to showcase Colombian design to an international market, generating an interactive approach between buyers and designers, creating closeness between the real and virtual worlds.”

The results were not long in coming. In 2019, Design Room Colombia accompanied six companies to the Maison & Objet fair in Paris, one of the most important in the world, and set up a showroom at Design Miami, bringing national creativity to highly visible venues.

We are thrilled to have been part of this selection of Colombian firms, a step that reaffirms our commitment to contemporary craftsmanship and opens up new opportunities to continue showcasing the value of Colombian design to the world.
